October 2023

The October meeting of the Southern Maryland Scale Modelers was held at the Leonard’s Grant Club House as we’re sort of “between homes.” We will begin meeting at the St. Mary’s Airport Terminal beginning in November. The theme for the month was “Tamiya!”, any kit by this company and there were plenty of Tamiya kits on display.

We welcomed two new members at the October meeting; Tim Boyd, and Adam Tschutt.  Welcome to the Southern Maryland Scale Modelers!  We had 23 members present, and 22 models on display.


Adam Tschutt: 1/100 Gundam Dark Matter Exia, first one finished in candy coat paint.


Rick Weeks: 1/25 Mustang finished in Jewel Green.


Steve Luchianetti: Matchbox 1/72 F9F Panther.


Patrick ‘Doc’ Haugh: Tamiya 1/35 Panzer IV L70 with 75mm main gun. Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk. 1. Roden 1/32 Fokker Dr.I Triplane, Manfred von Richthofen.  Lothar von Richthofen in 1/32.


Bill Suggs: 1/48 Tamiya Bf109E-4, Fw190A-8, and N1K1-J Shiden kai George.


Justin Reed: Tamiya 1/35 KV-1 tank with Rye Field individual track links. Finished as a Siege of Leningrad defender. 


Joe Hegedus: Tamiya 1/72 F4U Corsair with bombs stolen from an F-84. Tamiya 1/25 Jeep Wrangler. Tamiya 1/25 Jeep Grand Cheroke.


Joe Nevis: Tamiya F4D-1 Skyray in China Lake marking, but very difficult to obtain good reference info.


Gerry Whiteside: Tamiya 1/72 F4U-1 Corsair. Tamiya 1/72 Me109E-1.


Jim Rotramel: Tamiya 1/48 He219A-7 Uhu with Cutting Edge radar on the nose.


Chris Thuot: Tamiya 1/72 F4D-1 Skyray. Tamiya 1/35 M-113.


Andy White: Monogram 1/48 C-47 Skytrain WIP.


Steve Workman: Hasegawa 1/72 Ki-48 Lilly with some scratch interior work done.
